A wild time at Lion Country Safari
Hello Darlings:
On my way back from a relaxing week in Fort Myers I made a detour to visit the Lion Country Safari.
It was my first visit and will not be my last visit!!
Thrifty Tip: Visit their website first and they feature anywhere fro $6-$10 off per person for entrance.
Also, pack a cooler and lunch, plenty or picnic tables and shaded spots!
As you approach the gate my heart and my excitement grew knowing I was going to be seeing some majestic animals!!!
Lion Country Safari was the nation's first cageless zoo. And has become a leader in the conservation movement since 1967.
The park has simple rules since this is self guided tour where you stay in your car! Remember the animals have the right away so pay attention! (I had an Impala jump in front of my car and I had to sit for 5 minutes until he continued on his journey)
Keep windows and doors closed at all times! No smoking, no leaving your car and no outside animals. Pretty simple right??? At the admission gate you will receive a CD so you have your own personal audio tour that takes you throughout the different gates.
It is a 2 lane road so pass slowly if you see a car spending too much time at a certain area. I was lucky to go during the week when there is lower amount of visitors.
There are 6 different areas to drive through, ranging from where Llamas, to the Lions and then the Giraffes!!! It was quite exciting to spend as much time as I liked viewing the animals not in cages!!!!
They were all very active!!!
After the driving tour you will enter the walking part of the tour which will feature:
Carousel Ride, GIRAFFE FEEDING (my personal fav), Fun slide, feeding zoo, water slide and more!!! There is a restaurant and snack stations located throughout the walking park. I treated myself to a Carvel ice cream cone.
Lion Country Safari is located about 20 minutes from downtown West Palm Beach west of Wellington but you will feel like you are in the African Serengeti!!!!!
